"It is well. It is well with my soul!"

My trust is in Jesus and not the things of this world. All the things that I have gotten so comfortable with - that owned my time, my heart, my devotion - just don’t seem as important. Makes a person stop and turn back to fundamentals. Makes us realize we are not in control of this world. Makes us realize that even if and when humans discover a vaccine by God’s wisdom, for this disease, there could be and likely will be, another one. Our dependence on this world has got to cease.
As a banker, my mind goes to liquidity. How much liquidity is enough to sustain my family or my business - for a month, three months, six months, a year ... will it ever be enough? Should we be even better stewards to help those who aren’t? Should we store up more liquidity just for them? As a banker, my mind goes to debt. How much debt can my family or any business support in a downturn? Should I even have debt? Should I be leveraging my assets so I can have more or bigger stuff? Should I only incur debt if it is short term or self-liquidating and is income producing? As a believer, my mind goes to good stewardship. Practicing stewardship with my time, my talents and my resources allows me to help others when the time arises. It allows me to be at peace. It frees me up from dependence on this world and allows or reminds me to be dependent upon the Lord Jesus. How about you? Do you want to be free from the things of this world and from the fear of loss? Then seek a relationship with Jesus. Ask him to give you peace right where you are - don’t wait for the storm to blow over or to capture enough wealth or enough stuff - turn to him now and forever. Then, in the midst of the storm, you will walk hand in hand with Jesus. You will be at a place of perfect peace. I shared this in my text devotional ministry the other day, but after hearing from others throughout the day and after watching the chaos being distilled by “all” media, it seems it might be beneficial to others as well. At a time like this, it seems like a great opportunity to be thankful and to praise the Lord as we bring “EVERYTHING” to the Lord in prayer. Pray these lyrics and worship as you listen to the song by clicking this link - What a friend we have in Jesus! WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS LYRICS! What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He'll take and shield you; you will find a solace there. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer. Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there. TGBTG! Tom O’Keefe 405-409-4998
